Loft and Garage Conversions

Loft conversions are ideal for adding that extra bedroom or home office.

Although more costly than converting a garage a loft conversion can still be a very cost effective way of gaining more living space in your home. Building regulations approval is required when converting a loft into living space but DTL are happy to help you with the initial application process and will take care of all subsequent contact with the building control department. It is important when selecting someone to undertake your conversion that you choose a company like DTL that are aware of the regulations concerning such things as fire escape routes, insulation and strength of joists.

DTL can take care of the whole process for you quickly and efficiently including:

  • Completing the building notice application for Building Control and include the fees in our costs. Undertake all liaison with the building inspector and ensure the work is checked and signed off at the end of the process.
  • All carpentry and necessary structural alterations
  • Fitting of dormer or Velux windows
  • Construction and installation of appropriate staircase
  • Insulating plaster boarding and skimming of walls as required
  • Construction of any internal stud walls
  • Insulating, boarding and skimming of ceilings
  • All electrics, plumbing and heating.

Garage Conversions are a great way to increase the size of your living space without having to move home as well as potentially increasing the value of your property.

They are usually a simpler alternative to extensions because they do not usually require planning permission.  They are also a less costly solution with the main structure already being in place.  Your garage could become a home office, playroom, gym, kitchen extension or additional bedroom.
